Scope of Work
• Detailed Design utilizing 3D design
• The plant was broken into modules or major pieces of equipment/skids
• 15 modules designed by On-Board, including pipe flex analysis
• 5 modules had to have interconnecting piping and steel
• 9 modules were designed by Air Products internal engineering department
• 106 Drawing and Document transmittals over the 12-month detailed design duration
Challenges
• Large project team as the owner had many people working on particular aspects of the project, including preliminary engineering by the client’s European Engineering Department
• Coordination of tie-ins and shutdowns determined by the Republic
• Overall, the project was underestimated by the client.
Keys to Success
• 3D modeling led to minimal RFI’s during construction
• Communication through weekly meetings
